Detroit's Riot Jazz Impressarios Critical Theory are back with a new single "Taptin" in addition to a new merch line for their 2020 album Late Night Session.
This latest record "Taptin" is a swingy thingy that calls upon the spirits of Slum Village, Ghetto Sage, and Dilla. Packed with soulful, flagrant inflections and the group scat-hopping in pocket, this latest record is the type of track you gotta get your listen to in your oversized Detroit fitted as you drive past Baker's Jazz Lounge on Livernois. For those reading outside of Detroit, just know that's a fire compliment.
Critical Theory just keeps getting better and better, and we can't wait to hear more from the group as the year continues to unravel.
Also, if you're looking for new threads and looking to support the group beyond the music, be sure to check out their new merch line for Late Night Session.
